YUKON PROSPECTORS ASSOCIATION
THE VOICE FOR MINERAL EXPLORATION IN THE YUKON
(C) Copyright 2016 - Yukon Prospectors Association
Prospecting and mining have defined the Yukon since the Klondike Gold Rush in 1898. Our towns and cities were founded around mines or as transportation centres to support mines. The Yukon's private sector economy relies heavily on mining and mineral exploration to this day.
Mines must be found and explored before they are built and exploited. Prospectors and mineral exploration crews continue to explore throughout the Yukon, seeking the mines of tomorrow to replace those of today. There aren't many prospectors in the Yukon but they have and continue to make an outsized contribution to the Yukon's future.
Since 1977, the Yukon Prospectors Association (YPA) has been a clear voice for Yukon prospectors and for those who work in Yukon's mineral exploration industry.
